Has anyone tried out Aviva save?

Has anyone availed themselves of the Aviva save service yet to get the £40 giftcard?

They seem to have the leading 1 year rate (Tandem) currently so I'm thinking I might as well give them a try.

That said, I've not been particularly impressed with other aggregators like Raisin etc, they just seem to introduce delay/complications.

How have people found Aviva so far?  e.g. How long does it take to actually get funds earning interest (that was one of my bugbears with Raisin, I think it took 3-4 days).

I haven’t used Aviva Save, but just be careful of the restrictive T&Cs.

Anything in particular that looked concerning? Main thing I can see is £10k+ in one go to one of the fixed rate accounts, which I'll do..

Thanks for the heads up. Not a bad offer but I think I'll hang on for a week or two to see whether there will be 4.9%, or even higher, for 1 year fixed terms, as the leading rate is already 4.6% and there's going to be a base rate rise this week. I would also prefer to have the interest rather than a voucher that I have to spend with retailers I don't normally buy from. I know I will risk that the offer might be sold out by then, if it isn't already.

    Just a few of them that I noticed might catch people out;

    1. Up to 6,000 eGift cards are available. There’s every chance you apply and you’re not within that first 6,000

    2. Eligible for new fixed term accounts only, funded with £10,000 with one single payment.

Opened an a/c with them this morning and selected the 4.5% 1 year Tandem fix.

I was going to sit tight until next month to see what would happen to easy access and 1 year rates, but 4.5% isn't bad and if I get a £40 bonus giftcard, then on a £10k fix, it effectively yields 4.9%.

Still sitting on the bulk of my funds though to see what happens next month.

    Update :

Despite several attempts to transfer funds into the Aviva Save holding account from our Santander account, the Faster Payments just keep being returned.

The Aviva Save instructions say the payee name on the Santander transfer must match the Aviva Save account holder's name. But when setting up the Santander payment, even though the full Aviva Save payee name can be entered into the payment details, the Santander system is truncating the Payee name to 16 characters when the payment is sent, so it won't match :/  I have tried shortening the payee name to just Christian and Surname without the title, but it still gets rejected.

Given the benefits of depositing savings through the Aviva Save platform are minimal, I have contacted them and told them to close the account. It's not worth the hassle of bring stuck in a customer support queue for hours or being bounced between Santander and Aviva as one organisation passes the problem onto the other!

Perhaps the gods are telling me to sit tight until any changes following the November BoE statement after all!!!
  • Anyone actually received a gift card from Aviva Save as of yet?  I think I'm now exactly at the 6 week point (apparently the timeframe they send it out in) but not seen anything in my mail/junk as of yet.

I received a gift card on the 9th Nov, i could choose between amazon, B&Q and M&S.  I also think Aviva save is fantastic, had no problems with them and have 5 fixed rate bonds. I have £125,000 in total but each provider has its own £85,000 protection. It’s much better than chasing individual providers due to going over the FSCS protection limit.

I don't find the rates they offer particularly competitive and I don't need [to pay] an intermediary to manage access to my savings for me. This applies to Aviva Save, HL Active, Raisin or Flagstone, all the same. But if you don't mind getting lower rates and if a single login is helpful for you, any one of the intermediary services will be ok.
