Small Claims track

Hi, first post, I have read through the newbie posts and many threads. Briefly I am the keeper but not the driver in this incident. My son parked in this space monitored by NGP parking management on 9th January evening of this year (2022) apparently and the first I was aware was when I received on 17th Sept 2022 a demand for £253.76 ( Broken down into - Amount claimed £168.76, Court fee £35, Legal rep costs £50). I subsequently completed a SAR following the template on your site a month ago asking for all data held and also a defence statement following a template recommended by your site and have now received a letter from dcblegal stating that their client wishes to proceed with the claim. I haven't received any of the data held that I asked for. Their letter offered the option to 'settle' if I rang them within 7 days and also the option of mediation. I assume it is a no to both those suggestions so I am completing the DQN180 for the small claims court approach. Section D1 ' suitability for determination without hearing' asks 'why' if I say 'no'........ I don't want to say the wrong thing but essentially my only defence is I wasn't the driver (which I am aware is not actually a defence!!) and that the first I was aware of this was when I received the request for this over inflated sum of money.
I'm very anxious about the potential of having to go to small claims court and all that might entail especially what it could cost me. It's hard not to just roll over and pay up.
Have I got a leg to stand on at all?

Glad our resources helped you so far!
The thread from June by @Grizebeck covers the answer to that new question. It is pretty obvious what the answer must be...if you think about it... but that's the thread you need for an example of what to put.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the reply Coupon-mad. The other query I’ve just thought of is that my ‘local’ county court is Cardiff ( which seems to be called justice Centre)🤷♀️ which from other parts of the parking threads is a pilot? I’m not sure if this is a good or a bad thing or whether i should opt for Newport County Court 10 minutes up the road?0

You could opt for Newport. Just put that it is nearer to your day to day workplace so more convenient to attend a hearing.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
