Britannia Parking PCN - Ticket date wrong !!!!!! App defaults to 2 days prior

Used the Britannia Parking App to purchase a parking ticket, in a hurry didn't realise the App defaults to 2 days prior to current date (sneaky scammers) so have received a PCN for parking on a Saturday morning but the receipt for the parking ticket shows the ticket I bought was for the Thursday, 2 days before the date I parked. The PCN came through the post, its an ANPR system so they will know the car was not in their car park on the date the ticket was purchased for.

Should I appeal this? I feel 100% scammed, why would the App default to 2 days before other than to try and catch people out.

    Of course you appeal.

And make a complaint to the BPA.  Try Sara Roberts; Head of AOS, who I think used to work for Britannia!  This will make life difficult for all concerned:

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Thanks so do I just appeal that I paid for parking but their App was at fault due its default date being wrong?

Use the blue text initial appeal template from the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, first post, and add a sentence to express the fact that a ticket was purchased via their App which was in error due to its default date being set two days behind. Don't use 'I', 'Me' or 'My' in that added sentence.

  • I also just checked the web booking system for this car park and that also defaults 2 days prior, I see no reason for this as I don't think they have an option to pay for parking 2 days after your parked. This is what the website shows right now, defaults to Thursday 27th.

The template sounds a bit agressive, should I tone it down a bit?

No it doesnt sound aggressive at all.
Why would a template have been done (which took time) only for people to "tone it down a bit"
    Sorry thats a daft comment

The mind boggles..... why on earth do people want to !!!!!! foot around with parking firms

What is this 'Britannia Parking App' you speak of?
    I can't find it in Google's PlayStore.

Seems rather strange that the date is two days out.
Are you sure the date on your device is set correctly?

    Which car park?

Please give us a link to that website mentioned in your latest post.
  • @KeithP is it possible that this parking app isn't released through the Google Play* store?

You can release an Android* app as an APK file that your phone can install without going through Google Play*.

    * replace with Apple App Store or iOS if the OP has an iPhone.

    Yes.

I've asked a few questions. Just waiting for answers.

Sorry its their website not an App, link below, car park was Arlesey ANPR (Arlesey Railway Station) if you click book a space then click arrival date it defaults 2 days backwards, if you try it now and you don't change the day it will purchase a ticket for Thursday 27th. I feel its deliberate to catch people out in a hurry trying to catch a train, why on earth would the default date be 2 days backwards.

This is nothing to do with device times, their website is built like this on purpose.
