A sign in my local Waitrose announced the return of the free coffee/tea with purchase restarting 7 November.  (You have to bring your own cup).

Waitrose is not very mse, not is store convenient for me. I do though have a J/L voucher to spend and the heads up about taking own cup noted.  I wonder if mug sales increase of folk buy cups or mugs so they get a free cuppa.!!

I find Waitrose very competitive on some things to be honest, reductions at the end if the day are also good.

Good news, used to like a latte after shopping. I'm sure a typical weeks shop is going to be dearer than elsewhere but not always by a huge amount. There are definitely items which are the same price as competitors. Also the weekly vouchers seem better targeted. They had 500 gm Lurpak on offer at £4 and I had a £1 off voucher which brought it down to £3 which I don't think I'd have got cheaper anywhere else since the prise rises.

I got an email from Waitrose last night about it informing me that "Coffee is back! And it’s now even better…"

They also have offers in-store on Cafe Nero products and in conjunction with Cafe Nero too if you have a MyWaitrose card:

It bothers me not as Waitrose coffee is vile IMHO.

My mum ventured into our local store and picked up a cup to be filled, only to be asked by the CS staff where she got it from. On pointing it out the said member of staff said to the duty manager something along the lines of "we should save this for our coffee mornings" and the superior cups were swiftly spirited away  :o

Yes, they have been making a big deal about it being Caffe Nero so suspect it's not the same coffee used before. Not had a chance to try it yet as been getting home deliveries

Rather inaccurate of them to say they're 'bringing back free coffee' aswith  the old system,  you could stop your shopping part way through, go for a coffee and then carry on.
The new way it seems you have to have finished your shopping, get a receipt as proof of buying something and then get your mug filled on way out.
    Not at all the same.
Having now got rather old, I find the chance to have a sit down part way through very helpful.
It's no longer the attraction it once was.
