Airport taxi - Harlow to Heathrow

We havent travelled in 3 years and last time we flew from Heathrow a family friend dropped us.  we are after a taxi next weekend, to leave Essex late afternoon on the Saturday and drop us at Heathrow.  Prices I've been quoted each way are £150+.  Thought I'd try Uber and it came in at £85.  We've found Uber to be a bit of a let down for local journeys, you et booking confirmation, then the car cancels quite regularly for local trips (up to 5 or 6 mile journeys).  Might an airport run be a safer bet?  We are worried about booking an Uber and it cancelling and us then rushing ot find another.  Any local airport taxi companies you would recommend please?

Can’t help on local Harlow taxi firms but would agree with your views and thinking re Uber.  I would not risk Uber for a time sensitive trip either.

Does train to Liverpool Street and then Elizabeth line to Heathrow make sense now this journey is easier? Be a sight less than £150 as well.

There are lots of private hire companies offering travel to airports that would be better than a taxi as you would be quoted a fixed fare.  Here's an example found by googling who quote £75 (not a recommmendation as I know nothing about them)
The Elizabeth line mentioned above involves an additional change at Paddington until sometime in November.

You are in a different area to us, but a similar distance from the airport.  We had quotes varying from £100 to £135 each way in September.  Your quote isn't that much different to the top end quotes we had.  How many are travelling?

Would agree and would certainly be a whole load cheaper; depends I suppose on the time?

Your taxi prices seem far too high unless you are looking at an Addison Lee or Blackline type service. We've moved around a fair amount and local firms and Uber tend to be very close in price but the former is a fixed price and the later can vary if traffic is particularly bad etc.

Taxi firms probably charge extra for driving into Harlow, and who could blame them!

Do you belong to a local facebook group as around my way this is a regular question and often people provide multiple reputable companies who provide such services.

Assume there’s no family friend that could run you there this time? Even a neighbour?

Thanks everyone - we’ve had an afternoon ringing around and found a recommended local firm who will do it for £100 each trip, so better than we expected.
thanks again everyone for your comments and help

oh, and phatbear I completely agree about Harlow! (We are actually 4 miles outside, but very few have ever heard of our tiny village)
