Has a letter today advising that my Winter Fuel and Cost of Living Payments would be in total £500.  I wanted to know if this was correct.

So I am 66 just started state pension.  I qualify for the winter fuel as I was born before 25 Sept 1956.

My wife is 61.

Not on any other benefits or have any other income.

  • Yes I got this letter this morning - I am a singleton receiving SP  -  I thought it was £600 per pensioner but maybe not.

  • Ahh so 'misleading info' on news media.  I concur and I am fine with this.  TBH I wish the help with energy costs was targetted. Not every pensioner is poor.

I believe the Winter Fuel payment for me is £500.  And the Pensioner Cost of Living Payment is £300.  Is this correct?

Yep, If you're a single pensioner like me. The £500 includes the £300, it was £200 ... edit sorry (you're married) just re-read your OP.

The Pensioner CoL is £300, essentially worked out as per household (although if 3 pensioners live together, they'd get an extra £450 in total compared with the usual WFP rates) but rolled into the Winter Fuel Payment.

If they weren't doing the extra £300 your winter fuel payment would have been £200.
