Still able to return goods to Made.com?

I'm reading that made.com is likely to go into administration soon. Their website is still up but there's a message saying that they're not taking any more orders.

We recently received a light fitting and would like to return it for a refund. If we package it up and return it, what are the chances that our money is returned?

Any advice? (apart from, always do a check of companies before ordering - 'we' know that now).

  • It's a guess, I'm afraid.  You might get it in in time, you might not, but unless you can use or sell it, you may as well return it.

Thanks. It'll cost a few quid to return - it's a three glass orb wall mounted thing, cost £160.

I suppose if I do return it and don't get a refund, I could always claim it through the Credit Card.

Looking at other threads on here and on other forums I suspect you have no chance of a refund.

If the item is faulty or not as described then a credit card might help, but you might need to try going through the system for reporting a fault and getting a returns label first , but if it is a change of mind then a credit card is not going to help at all.

Incidentally if it is a change of mind return they do have some terms and conditions online , but I’m not sure I’d risk sending it back now anyway .

I wouldn't return it, as it is highly likely you will then end up with no light fitting and no refund. You will end up joining a list of creditors and get perhaps 5p for every £1 you are owed.

If you don't like the light fitting, you are much better off selling in yourselves as you will get far more money back this way.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • You won't get a refund. I've had an email from Made.com saying, and I quote:

"The temporary change in our circumstances means that we are not currently able to accept returns, offer refunds or cancel orders. We realise this is disappointing but we hope to provide greater clarity soon. Our customers are incredibly important to us, and we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused".

Clearly their customers are not a priority right now, their creditors are. If I was you, I'd keep it and claim through your bank/credit card at the same time and say they won't allow you to return it, even though it is your right to do so (assuming you are within relevant timescales etc).

Thanks everyone. I'll box it up and have a think about what to do. You never know, there might be a last minute change in their circumstances.

That seems the safest thing at the moment. Part of the article about returns and made.com on this site:
