Paypal lost/stole my money

  • The BBVA card is linked to paypal, we paid through PayPal because sometimes the cards get blocked here when big purchases are made but not when using paypal.  (I exchanged the pesos amount into dollars for the purpose of the question on, I mentioned that later on in the thread.  I didn’t see the relevance, apologies)  Anyway.  We have been to the bank, they have no records, they can not help because the reference numbers Paypal have given do not match anything that is in their system.  There is no trace of the money on their side.  PayPal gave a 23 digit reference and for it to traced on the national banking system it has to be 30 digits.   We think the problem is down to the fact that all transaction on my PAYPAL account are through a digital card….it has a number that is different to the actual physical card.  I believe this is where the problem started.  The digital and physical cards are linked in the BBVA account but maybe the PayPal system didn’t acknowledge this.  I am looking for the process, how do we escalate it from here, how do you get an actual physical person in PayPal to take your complaint seriously and find the money, its like they are hoping you will forget about it, but it is a lot of money, nobody wants to lose that amount of money.

....which is only available to posters who've built up some history, so is unlikely to be visible for a new poster still in single digits of posts.  And it's positioned in the top right in the interfaces I use!
