Faulty Next Curtains

Hi I’m a newbie here so apologies if there is a similar post with same advice already.
I have Next curtains in my daughters bedroom, I can’t remember the exact date i purchased then but she is now 5 so will be around that many years. So I have washed them for the first time this week (don’t judge me!) and they have come out in huge black marks like some sort of dye come out in them, only on the black out lining though. I followed the care instructions exactly. I have emailed Next customer service and they have advised they have a 12 months warranty, I understand they are not new but I had no way of knowing the fault was there till washing them. So my question is it worth pursuing with Next or just write it off and buy new curtains, even though there was nothing wrong with them at all and I’ve now been left with curtains that need to go in the bin 😩
Thanks for reading!

After 5 years, you will struggle. You will have to prove there is a manufacturing fault by way of a report which states an inherent fault and not down to mis-use. If this went in your favour, next could then offer a repair, replacement or a partial refund to account for the 5 years use. I doubt they still stock the same curtains and a repair is unlikely, so it would leave you with a partial refund which would probably be buttons after this long.0

A refund after 6 months can be reduced to reflect the use you've had out of them and its up to you to prove its a fault rather than user error etc.
The law doesn't say how to calculate use but the most common one I've seen retailers use is the age in months /72 is the amount they knock off... so if 5 years old you'd be getting less than 10% of their price back and that assumes you can prove they're defective.
Have you taken them anywhere to be looked at? Our preferred dry cleaners can deal with a vast array of problems, including some which others have attempted and failed to deal with (wedding dress + whole bottle of port now is spotless whereas specialist company after 2 attempts said it couldn't be cleaned further)0 -
Thanks both for your replies, I thought 5 years might be pushing it just so annoying to be left with no curtains, I knew I should of left them and not washed them 😆
I have replied to their email stating I wasn’t very happy with their response and seems a bit unfair to be left with unusable curtains after one wash so see if they decide to do anything further but seems unlikely now0 -

If it is only on the black out why have you no curtains left?
👍
Seperate the blackout part & buy some more to sew on to the curtains.Life in the slow lane5 -

They're not unusable. I'd look at dyeing them to see if that could turn them to one colour you like, rather than just throwing them away.2

You're supposed to wash curtains!?!?! 🙄
If it's just on the black out lining then it doesn't really matter does it?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1
