A credit card isn't the answer here because you cannot repay what you borrow which will get you into even more difficulty.

Depending on your Hospital you will probably be able to get the refunds before/after your appointment. They may not pay the going rate for mileage but its better than nothing. Probably will cover parking charges as well.
Do post an SOA on the debt free wannabe section, there are some very knowledgeable people there who can advise on reducing costs.
Have you looked into claiming PIP?

Maxthomas4 said:Hiya everyone so basically abit of background I have chrons disease I'm 30 years old and have a six year old girl. So basically 2 years ago I got very ill and stopped working and had major surgery a ileostomy after that I couldn't work and got benefits eg lwrca and universal credit. But since my bills and rent have increased and I have spent my saving I literally do not have much food or any petrol to even start the car. I went to my local council and said please help they were useless and sent me to a food bank that were lovely but themselves struggling to give out food and I only got a bit. After everything I'm left with 57 pounds a month for food plus clothes petrol etc and finding it so hard with the little one.Im so angry that I've worked hard for 14 years and always worked but unfortunately I cannot control my chrons and had to stop working and I literally get no support whatsoever i was crying in the council offices and they just handed me a leaflet! So do I open my first credit card and use it just for living expenses I dont really know what to do thank you.
There's a lot of information from this site in the following link - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/benefits-check/

I also don't think it'd be a good idea to open a credit card - if your application were accepted - because it's only a good thing if you can clear it each month so you're not paying interest and the balance doesn't keep rising. If you were to get yourself into debt that'd just be another thing to worry about, which you don't want or need.

OP I have colitis, I do understand to some extent just how roughs things are feeling right now. Firstly the harsh bit, a credit card or any other type of borrowing isn’t in your best interests it really will lead to a much more difficult path ahead when repayments are an issue.
next you need to get a benefits check done to ensure you are claiming everything that you are entitled too. Whether that be PIP, discretionary housing payments from your local authorities or anything through your water company/utilities who have various funds available to help vulnerable households. Are you registered on their priority registers also?
im so sorry this may not have been the answer you were hoping for but we are really trying to stop a potential massive disaster in the not so distant future.0 -
I understand your struggle somewhat, I've has 6 operations for my colitis and had an ileostomy at the age of 14 up until 19.
I went to school and got my gcses and went to uni and worked a manually intensive job in retail hauling cages and lifting heavy trays. Not ideal but I coped. I think the more pressing issue here is your health. Why are you unable to work if you have a bag? You shouldn't need many trips to the loo and if it's the pain that's causing you to not be able to work I'd be wanting to see my surgeon or gastro specialists ASAP. Do you have any IBD nurses or colorectal nurses who can offer support?
They were a god send for me when I needed help. Definitely reach out for medical support as something doesn't quite sound right.1 -
Is your child’s father paying maintenance? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1
