First Direct switching offer £175 - current AND joint?

Forgive me if this is an obvious questions, but is the £175 offer for switching to First Direct available on just the first account you switch? Or will you also get it for switching a joint account?
i.e. If a couple switched a personal account each, and a joint account, would they get 3 x £175?

I can't be certain from the First Direct website!

Thanks.

Having had a quick look at their website, I feel the terms are fairly clear on this. You are only eligible for the first account you open with FD (sole or joint). Best bet is to each open a sole account (ie. 2 x £175) and then separately open a joint account after the sole incentives have been paid.

    *Claiming your £175

To get the £175 cash offer you need to open a 1st Account, switch your everyday banking to us using the Current Account Switch Service and pay in at least £1,000 within three months of opening the account.

This offer is limited to one payment per customer or joint account, and you'll get the money within 28 days of all the criteria being met. New customers to first direct only, who have not previously held a first direct product. Sorry, we also can’t offer this to people who have opened an HSBC current account on or after 1 January 2019.

You may hold an HSBC account and still qualify for the offer, as long as the current account was opened before 1 January 2019. We reserve the right to refuse your application and withdraw this offer at anytime. Credit is subject to status and an assessment of your financial circumstances.

    Thanks @PRAISETHESUN
I wasn't certain if "one payment per customer or joint account" meant that you got one payment per individual AND per joint account, or one payment per customer/individual regardless.

I know that Nationwide recently offered a bonus for the first individual and first joint account switched. Maybe they are the exceptions though?

OR and AND certainly don't mean the same thing! But I accept they don't always word T&Cs clearly.

If each of you switches a sole account, each of you will get a switching bonus (so 2 x £175 altogether). That's what they mean by "one payment per customer".

ALTERNATIVELY, if the two of you switch a joint account you will get a single switching bonus between you. That's what they mean by "one payment per ... joint account". In other words, you don't get one bonus each for switching a joint account.

I put ALTERNATIVELY in capitals to stress that it's one or the other, not both. That's what they mean by the "or" in "one payment per customer or joint account".

So whatever you do you can't get 3 x £175 between you.
  • Thanks @etienneg.

    That's a very clear explanation.
Sounds like the Nationwide, sole AND joint offer was an outlier then.
