BDML Masterquote - Brokers for Admiral Insurance

Just to let you all know,Be very careful with the above company.

I did my ringing around for B+C Insurance and the above came up with the same cover as More Than for £177 cheaper. Great I thought, I'll have some of this but the APR was 30% do I paid on my cc and bt it to a 0%. By now I was v chuffed with myself.

However, I have had to ring this company every week for 6 weeks to get a proposal form which is part of the binding contract. I have spoken to a variety of staff and one told me that my insurance had been cancelled as I had not returned the Proposal Forms. When she looked on my account I had asked for so many I thought that it might have flagged up a problem.

In my last phone call I asked if my insurance was in place , the lady explained all this to the supervisor, who them said "Its fine without a Proposal Form," But as part of the binding contract I wanted this in writing.

I asked them to confirm in writing by Special Deilvery that my insurance was still in place and to send me a Proposal Form by Special Delivery. The reply was "we'll send it by recorded delivery"

Guess what ? I still have not received this!!!!

In desparation I have now written to them by Special Delivery, email and copied it to the Insurance Ombudsman.

So the lesson, I've learnt is don't be too smug, as some person in a call centre is boudn to have b*llsed it up!!!
Will update if I get any joy as I promised to post this about them in my letter!!!

  • Elephant / BDML / Admiral / Mastquote all same company. I had the same problem as you getting them to send the correct documentation at the start of my policy. Took me 2 months to get the right paperwork from them after lot's of phone calls.

I have just cancelled my house insurance policy mid term with them after appalling service. There telephone support is a complete waste of time and 0870 money. I wrote a letter to cancel in the end as it was impossible (over 30mins on phone) to cancel over the phone. I also followed their complaints procedure and recently received a letter back from the Operations Director at mastquote (bought from elephant.co.uk) apologising and agreeing to waive the cancellation fee. Oh yes a BIG fee, £25 admin charge AND 17% of your annual premium in "reclaimed commission".

My advice would be to follow their complaint procedure, call them an report it on the phone - keep a record of all names, times, departments first. Expect to be transferred 5 or 6 times. When they fail to resolve issue, or you get bored of listening to hold music step two is to write to:

    The Quality Manager
    BDML Connect Ltd.
    The Connect Centre
    Kingston Crescent
    Portsmouth
    Hampshire
    PO2 8QL

(is this who you wrote to?)

I got a reply from the Operations Director dated 11 days after my letter. He mentions he spent time tracing my call, so they obviously record them, so make sure you can quote phone numbers called, times, dates, names departments etc to assist with this.

Make sure you ask for something specific as compensation.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.
    Sense is not common.
