Hi, anybody with EDF had their DD taken been in credit with their utility e.g. £266 in credit then received the £66 C of L refund but also had their credit reduced to £200 effectively meaning they are refunding your own money instead of you gaining, this has happened to me and I'm very confused 😕

someone posted that kind of thing not very long ago. i think it turned out that edf had taken the 66 off the bill at the earlier stage? (so you need to look at the detail to see your actual energy use where vat is taken not the summary of the balance on the account)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Several threads about it.You start off with £200 credit on your account. The CoL £66 is added making you £266 in credit. EDF then send £66 to your bank account debiting £66 from your account. Your account now is back to the original £200 credit and you have an extra £66 in your bank account from the government, it is not your own money being refunded.1

That isn't what has happened though, I was effectively £266 in credit they have sent me £66 and now I'm only £200 in credit therefore they have sent me my own money, otherwise I would still be £266 in credit.molerat said:Several threads about it.You start off with £200 credit on your account. That depends if the £266 credit was all from your money or if, as molerat suggests, actually some of it was the government money.0

i think what the op is saying is they were 200 in credit. then paid 66 via DD as normal (so credit 266). then were refunded 66 back to there account as the 'government' money. and had there credit reduced to 200.Deleted_User said:That depends if the £266 credit was all from your money or if, as molerat suggests, actually some of it was the government money.
which sounds to me like the 'missing' 66 from the government covered the actual usage 'behind the scenes' (which we've seen on other threads where the deduction is only in the detail before the bill summary) because otherwise they didn't actually pay for any energy that period.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Could also be that they looked at their account in the very small window between the £66 showing as a credit & showing as a debit. Although mine shows the same date for both, only the credit was showing for a while, about a day I think, before it was updated to show the debitariarnia said:
