Customers in Scotland

If we supply your electricity in Scotland, some of our customers will need to apply for the Warm Home Discount this year, but others won’t. The government will decide which customers receiving Pension Credits are eligible, and write to them. Payments will be made by 31st March 2023.

Customers in Scotland who receive other specific benefits and meet the government’s criteria can apply for a Warm Home Discount payment.

I've not been able to get past the first screen unfortunately as it won't accept my BG account number starting with A (+6 digits), or the 21 digit number MPAN or the 13 digit version of that. Error message: You must be a British Gas customer with a valid Account Number to be able to apply.

D'oh.

    Many thanks for posting this.  I just applied for my dad.  I got..... 

    Application decision- Approval.

    The account number for his electric account begins 85 if that helps.

    Thanks for that.

    I used to be with British Gas Evolve (via an MSE offer) and it changed to just BG so that may be the problem as my account starts with A (+6 digits) and that's listed as "Customer number".

    I've still not been able to claim either.

    I spoke with BG over webchat and got the usual stupid "clear your cookies" and even "Are you in Scotland?" implying it was an IP issue.

    Form doesn't work on any of the 5 browsers over FTTP ethernet, wi-fi 4G and I even tried it over 5G when at the shops.

    I also got a daft email asking me to try another random account number which also didn't work. My reply to that email was did you actually try it or my real account number? Not too smart.

    Anyway, I've been told it's went to the backend people but it MSE'ers are having problems please contact BG and tell them  service_energy@britishgas.co.uk or talktous@britishgas.co.uk

    I'm assuming it may take some time to resolve as the management of that form is with a separate company.
