Not sure what to do

We had an old prepay key meter but the digital reading stopped working so we had a smart meter fitted earlier this month. I wasn't in when the meter was fitted and the booklet we got left did not really explain well enough how to use the smart meter.

Prior to this we got sent the first voucher those on key meters were to receive to help with the cost of electric to take to the postoffice but we could not use it because the read out stopped working so never cashed it in. How do we now get the money on to a smart meter, get the money for the voucher we haven't been able to use and further monthly payments that work on a smart meter instead of the key meter? Tried calling British Gas but long wait on phonelines so far.

rather than call i would say chat on there website or direct message them on twitter.

then you arent waiting around for a response and its all in writing if you ever need to double check (if you can't email yourself the chat then take a screen shot of chat or copy it into an email so you can look back at it)

the web chat link is here during there open hours https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/contact-us

    and twitter is https://twitter.com/BritishGasHelp

hopefully they should be able to cancel your voutcher and put the credit directly onto your smart meter accounts. and they should be abel to help with any smart meter questions you have (though the people here are also lovely and know things!)

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
