Santander Esaver

I applied to open a Santander Esaver account (2.75%). The relevant proof of identity information has been returned to them, as requested, but after two weeks there has been no comunication. Has anyone else been successful in opening this account?

Similar experiences have been reported on another thread (but many of us have opened one successfully):

I got 2 letters in the post today with opening codes, 2 weeks after applying. So yours might be on their way!
  • Well, still nothing from Santander 3 weeks after applying to open an ESaver account. Their so-called top rate of interest is going to look out of date with the soon to announced B of E interest rate hike anyway!

I had no problems. Opened it and letters with password etc arrived day 3 & 4 later.
I've never had any accounts with Santander either.
Maybe because I discovered the account just before it got onto MSE.  :)

My last two banks I ve joined ( Nationwide and First Direct ) on the switching trail have not followed through with me  to prove my identity by photo ID or Passport and in the application I filled in with First Direct they even  had the option of skipping the I.D question  .I think that the banks have ways nowadays of getting enough proof of I.D by other means.
I opened the Santander Esaver with no photp ID checks neither
