Query on registering a company on form IN01 companies house

Hi, just trying to understand the process and not jump to conclusions before knowing all the info. We bought our house in April 2016 so have lived here for 6 1/2 years. Last week my husband was opening our post and realised that one of the letters he opened was for the previous owner from Companies House congratulating him on becoming a director of a company he has just set up. I contacted companies house via email as thought this was odd given he has not lived here for 6 1/2 years and they have emailed me to say that our address was provided as the directors residential address on Form IN01 a couple of weeks ago. This person has 3 other older companies set up when he was living here so is it a case that it just automatically used a past address or has he knowingly used our address fraudulently? Ive been advised to fill out a RP02A form and send it to them which I will do but having has not experience of setting up a company I wanted to ask those of you that have set up companies if you have any thought on this? Thank you!

I'd generally err on the side of incompetence rather than conspiracy and suspect it has just autogenerated an old address, but I have no direct experience. Look at the other companies he's a director of: are their filings up to date? If not, I might be more suspicious ...
What is actually shocking is that Companies House does not require proof of address.Signature removed for peace of mind0
