Not every product is getting a redesign. I doubt Hilton HHonors and the (Black) Cashback cards ever will.

There will only be a few manufacturers of the machine tools to make the cards.

Providers share manufacturers so cards will change overtime.  As there is no need for raised number and card account details the move will be towards the new machine tools.

The need for raised details is still a thing, particularly for customers with additional needs.

Nationwide have recently changed to a new design which has more tactile features than ever, and still has raised details.

It's just a question of what the priorities of an organisation are, for some it'll be maximising the opportunity of a physical card to market themselves, for others it'll be ensuring users with additional needs are supported by default. (Neither is definitively the correct approach either.)

I feel raised card details (silver should be available for certain customers) but for most portrait cards with details on the back are better and most banks will go that route at some point

@GTR_King is there any chance that you could please post a picture of the Santander debit card? (with your card details covered of course). I got a landscape one a few months ago and was wondering if it has switched to portrait yet. Thank you :)
