UKPC Fine is it worth appealing

So I went to my local retail park today to watch a film at the cinema. The carpark is controlled by UKPC charges end at 6pm and they give you an hour free parking if you get a ticket from the machine. I arrived at about 5:40 and in hindsight stupidly thought there will be no enforcement people around now it's not worth walking to the other end of the car park to get a ticket for 20 free minutes. Of course I was wrong I was ticketed at 5:55 five mins before the free parking started.
Is it even worth appealing or do I just cough up the 40 quid and chalk it up to a !!!!!! up on my part
