British gas only refunded me half of the £66

Hi I fund today that British gas have only given me half of the goverment grant I paid pre grant £100 via Dorect debit and was only refunded £35 despite the the later I recived from them saying they would refund £66 off my bill can they do this legally

Is it the current credit balance on your account after you have been billed, your DD was deducted and £66 was deducted from the balance?

I pay £100 and told after my dd went through would be refunded the £66 as was paying before the grant came in0
