Can anyone tell me what this means on an MOT?

It means your subframe/chassis needs welding.

If you Google - MOT guidelines 5.3.6 (a)(i) - on the gov.uk site it’ll refer you to the appropriate section - basically that section relates to the complete suspension system, seemingly ‘major dangerous’0

If it mentions 'Chassis Split' and 'Fractured significantly' - then it means there's a physical split in an important part of the car that shouldn't be split - and it needs repairing or replacing before you'll get through your MOT. It's not just a bit of surface rust. The question would be whether it's repairable with a bit of welding - or how much corrosion there is around in terms of what the next steps might be. How old is the car - what type of car - and what's the overall condition like otherwise?2

It's a 2015 Toyota Aygo, no previous MOT fails, not had any issues driving the car. The garage have now called (I saw the result on the gov site first) and have said it's repairable with welding, but since they don't do welding I need to get another garage to fix it. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when quotes come in how much it'll cost.

7 yo car with major fracture to the chassis.
Has it suffered any impact damage at any time?0 -
How long have you had the car?0

Not that I'm aware of but the garage did refer to it as impact damage. This is the picture they've sent and it looks like impact damage to me as well, no idea how or when it's happened though. There's an advisory for the nearside rear wheel being slightly distorted as well, which I'm guessing is linked. Nothing else picked up and no other visible damage apart from the odd tiny scratch here and there (the kind you only see when you're looking for them).0

Did you own the car at the last MOT?0
-
Certainly looks as if you’ve hit something, further evidenced by the fact the MOT tester has also indicated the wheel is slightly distorted. I’d suggest that you’d have noticed it for it to have caused that sort of damage. Has the car been running ‘straight?’ Have you noticed anything that may support the claim that the wheels distorted?
