Help need cheap accom in Portsmouth

Hi

Im after cheapish accommodation in Portsmouth for the Int. Festival of the sea, for 2 adults and 2 young kids. Just the nights of the 27th and 28th of June. Ive tried and tried to get somewhere. The nearest I can find is in Southampton. Can anybody help and suggest any options?

I live in Portsmouth and according to our local paper every hotel and B&B has been fully booked for some time now. Southampton is about 30 mins by car via the M27 and about the same by train, which is worth considering as Portsmouth Harbour station is right by the Dockyard where most of the main events will take place I believe. Also Portsmouth is a nightmare for getting in and out of as there are only 3 roads into the City and these get clogged up daily, without the extra visitors the event will bring.

  • Why not look call the tourist office and ask about Gosport or Alverstoke (a lovely village next door).

You can get the ferry across no problem.

I called a tourist office on the day of my arrival over bank holiday weekend, and despite having previously said it was fully booked, magically rooms were available, so stay persistent and you'll find something.
