BG Smart meters - going from credit to pre-payment
Hi,
asking for a friend:
if you have 1st gen smart meters (installed by British Gas) and they're currently in credit mode, is it possible to have them switched to pre-payment mode without having to replace the meters/engineer visit? The display unit (BB IHD GEO Ltd) appears to have option in the menu for both credit/pre-payment functions so that would suggest that it's possible.
He's living in a rented flat and when he moved in, there were pre-payment meters there. He asked if he could have them changed to credit (as it's cheaper) and the landlord agreed on the condition that when he moves out, the pre-payment meters will be back in. He's looking to move sometime in January. Getting hold of British Gas is a pain at the moment so he asked me to put a post on here in case someone knows the answer.
Thank you!
