Penetrating damp attic chimney breast

Hi

Please could I pick your brains.
For the past 10yrs I have had issues with damp patches on my attic chimney breast when it rains.

I have spent money on getting the chimney repointed, reflaunched, new lead work, new soakers, done by a reputable company. It did not fix the problem.

Last January I had some Storm Dry painted into the exterior of the chimney, the problem did not go away.
A cowl is fitted on the chimney.

I am at a loss as what could be causing the issue other than the water coming in through the brickwork.

Has anyone else had this issue it could offer some advice some fix it.

I have attached a photo, the staining top right is from the wood burner which is no longer used.

Cheers
