Warning about British Gas's new It system and their Homecare product
I had previously ensured that the Homecare product they offer was set to NOT auto-renew however under their new IT system it has been set back to 'auto renew' and you cannot change this online (currently within 4 weeks of the renewal date).
You have to contact them to do it or it will go from, for me, free to £150/year taken by direct debit.
Might be worth checking now to ensure your options are correct. Getting it back later when you realise they've done it will be a lot more difficult.
Interestingly as soon as I managed to raise the issue via their woeful online chat facility I was offered an immediate 33% discount. Free was all I'm prepared to pay for seomthing like this.
They don't seem to have transferred billing debit/credit information across either. Expect some fireworks soon.......
