Does NatWest ask for proof of home insurance before completion?

Just wondering as I’m not sure that I’ll have received the insurance documents through the post.

Does anyone know if they ask for any documentation (I.e. proof of insurance) before releasing funds?

Oh right. Did they ask that before exchange?

I wasn't asked by Natwest but then again I did have my policy documents emailed to me within about 15 minutes of taking the policy out so I didn't think too much about it.

Your solicitor checks, up to them how assiduously they do so. Have you not had confirmation online that it's been put in place? Been a while since I've had any sort of paper insurance documents!

The lender will not ask for confirmation of this. Occasionally the solicitor will check it out on behalf of the lender.  This may range from assuming you'll put it in place through asking you to tick a box to confirm you will, to asking for policy documents to confirm correct level of cover in place.

If your solicitor hasnt asked about it then dont worry about it.  Even if they do, most are only looking for a quote and the amount of cover.   Since you don't start the policy until exchange or completion then you cant provide anything more than this at this stage
