SSE...Worst Company EVER!!

I recently moved into a new property that is all electric and supplied by SSE. The problem is that it's currently got a prepayment meter installed that charges 40p p/kw. For over two weeks I've been calling them to get the meter removed because I've a fixed rate tariff with BG that only charges 21p p/kw, that can be transferred to my new property. Sadly BG won't removed the meter because its to theirs. In those two weeks, SSE has dropped my call over a dozen times, put me hold countless times, transferred me to a dozen un-knowledgable departments, requested that I sign up to become a customer and blatantly lie over everything. I'm at my wits end with this company. They are the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Does anyone know what my options are.

It's a normal process when moving into a property to sign up with the current supplier and then switch if you wish. From what you've posted I think that's what they are asking you to do... although I'm not entirely sure if that's the issue.

As it's all electric, could it be on E7 rates that are used to power storage heaters on the cheaper overnight rates?

You have to sign up with SSE as they are the current supplier. I presume you want the meter changing to a normal credit meter. If SSE won't do it you'll have to change suppliers to someone that will. BG might but you'd have to change to them first with the old meter. They certainly won't do it while you are an SSE customer.

    Welcome to the forum
You are already an SSE customer. Once you have signed up with them you will be able to request a meter swap. Alternatively, as has been suggested, you might then be able to switch to BG and ask them to change your meter.
