Extension charging cable

Does anyone know a good place to guy an extension charger cable? We have the standard one, but the dealer wants £240+ VAT for an extension cable!

You'd have to provide a bit more information than that to get a helpful response. Extension for charging what exactly? An EV presumably. If so, which model and charging from what?

Hi. Assuming you mean for an EV, then you should find type 2 extension cables for £100 to £150 if you shop around (play with Google). They are expensive as they need to be rugged, weatherproof, and typically capable of up to 32A.

There may be cheaper versions for extending a granny charger, or buy a new granny charger that's longer, say 10m, but it'll be expensive as you're buying another 'clever box'.

Not a good idea to use a normal extension lead for granny charging, as the long 10A power draw, even through a 13A extension may heat things up. But if the car amperage can be selected, then should be OK at 5A, but need to consider weather and exposure if the ext lead is outside.
