Where can I give away my Energy Bill Support Scheme Money?
I have two electricity suppliers. One for my house and a separate one for my lockup garage.
The garage bill is small. I have a fluorescent light and I occasionally boil a kettle.
Typically the bill is just the standing charge. About £16/month by direct debit to EON.
So my latest bill is the first since the Energy Bill Support Scheme was introduced on Oct 1st. It shows a credit of £51.11. This credit will build up each month for at least the next 6 months. That gives me an estimated credit balance with EON by next April of approx. £295 - enough to pay my garage energy bills for the next 18 months at current rates.
Presumable there are only a few users like me hence the anomaly in the Energy Bill Support Scheme. I could just sit back and be thankful for the windfall but there are people in poverty who need this money more than I do. Where can I give the difference each month. I’m thinking I could donate £16/month for the next two years at this rate. Any suggestions?

That's really generous of you.
You could always use it to help Food Banks, since then you'll know that the funds are going where they're really needed. Especially if you buy supplies and deliver them yourself. I hate the fact that we have to have such things as food banks in this day and age but given that we do, and they help so many people, that's what I would do if I had any spare money. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Only today, I heard something on R4 Moneybox about the Fuelbank Foundation offering support to those on prepayment meters. I was very impressed by the chap talking: the presenter said there were always some people saying they don't need the Winter Fuel payment, so could they donate theirs, and the chap from FF said yes, they'd love it, but to make sure you weren't going to need the money yourself in a few months.Signature removed for peace of mind0
