Smart Socket that does not need Internet?

I have a Hive smart socket and a couple of lamps and a Tapo smart socket and my internet was off for a day and none of them work without the internet.

Is there a smart socket that does not need the internet to work?

What do you want the smart socket to do? Clearly not to be able to control it from your phone when you are out, as that will always need an internet connection.
The Tapo plugs do work without internet. I control mine via a Python script running on my PC or a Raspberry Pi, but I realise that's not for everyone. You do need your wifi network up, but not an external internet connection. If you use the timer features, these also work without any networking. You only need to use the app to program them initially. As a last resort, if your internet is down, they do have a physical button on the side to switch them on and off.

There are Zigbee smart sockets too, and they should also work with the internet off. This is one of the reasons I've stuck with Zigbee rather than moving to hubless devices.

To switch off an inaccessible socket I used to leave it switched on all the time because I couldn't reach it.

Also my internet was down because the router/modem was faulty so no wifi network either.

I also have a raspberry pi, I use it to control my greenhouse watering and propagator heating, I don't know if I will heat any part of my greenhouse next year.

I worked out that my tomatoes cost more to grow than just buying them from the supermarket, though they do taste better.

You can get plugs with a remote control to switch off inaccessible sockets if you don't want to use WiFi. I'm sure Wilko do them.

You can get them on Amazon. I use one to control the electric pump on the shower.

I have various brands of smart sockets which all work without the internet, only within the home, obviously they do use WiFi local network though.
You can always use your mobile phone as a WiFi hotspot for homebased control, maybe bluetooth will work in some cases too.

I have a bunch of old "HomeEasy" products. Remotes and sockets, plus a programmable remote that can control up to 16 devices. No internet or even local WiFi required. The remote does have a clock you have to adjust when the clocks change, and you have to change the programme if you're controlling a "security" light as the days get shorter/longer.
Still use it every year for the Christmas Tree lights!  :)

I use the TapoPlugAPI, which can be found here:
It sounds like you know what you are doing with a Raspberry Pi, but I'm happy to help if you need any.
If you just want to switch the socket off at night or something, you could also use the timer function of the Tapo, which will still work without networking. That's less useful for ad-hoc use, though.
