Hi, I am adding in my computation manually into the text box for reporting capital gains tax. Howe-ever I keep getting the following error

There is a problem

  • 'Please give any other information about your capital gains below' can only contain alpha, numeric and the following special characters: ' ( ) * , - . / & @ £. The enter (or return) key located on your keyboard is not accepted. Please amend.
My computation input is

" Currency cost basis at the start of the year. Number of Coin(ABC) coins is ***ABC. GBP equivalent is £****. Cost basis is £*.** per coin. In April I traded ***ABC at price per coin £*.** into BCA for a total value of £****. My disposable event trading ***ABC into BCA was a gain of £***(£****-(***ABC*£*.**)). Between 22-23 ** **** I traded all of this BCA back into ****ABC for a total value of £****(***8*£*.** (ABC price)). Gain for this disposable event is total cost - original cost so £****-£**** which leads to a gain of £*****. So my total gains are £**** plus £**** which leads to total disposable gains of £*****. Capital gains tax to pay on this amount is £*****-£*****10% which is £***. "

Sorry if my computation is weird this is my first time doing this sort of thing. But can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong to get that error? I am only using special characters from what they have said I am allowed to use.

PS. I have redacted sensitive information

Ah sorry I left a % sign in. Not sure why I can't use symbols like % or = when doing computations...

You don't actually need to put this amount of detail on the tax return, unless you are disclosing something where a contrary view may be taken by HMRC.
