I can't say about the 9 volt batteries but I bought a pack of three rechargeable batteries from Poundland, they are AA but I think they have AAA also. Happy Christmas:A :

got an energiser one in homebargains with 2 aaa batteries 3.99 will charge aa batteries as well0

I can go one better.
Argos sell Energiser rechargeables for 9.99 for a pack of 4 (ouch!)
svp sell the same pack of 4 for 5.48 - that works out at 1.37 per battery.
BUT
get this
http://svp.co.uk/product/energizer_compact_charger_(with_6_aa_batteries)_5620
not including the delivery, (which I tend to order lots of stuff from there anyway), that charger is £8.48 with 6 batteries. That works out that that you're paying 26p for the charger....cant go wrong with that one...hope that helps.
Check the site for discs too and other stuff they're highly recommended by lots...plus if you spend over £50 you can get £5 off when paying by google checkout at the mo0 -
7 day shop is where I buy stuff like that. They sell cheap quick chargers too
