Cheap Economy 7 Tariff!!
Options
I'm on a smart prepayment meter.
My current supplier is E and my rates are 41p day 17p night.
I found out from my father in law that his rate with EDF is 48p day and 7p night.
If like me you use Economy 7 as its intended this could be a massive saving.
My night time usage makes up 80% of my total. By shifting to EDF I'm set to save over £1000 over a year.
This information doesn't come up on comparison sites as you can't switch online. But the tariff is there be found and after one relatively short phone call I'm now in the process of being switched over to EDF. Their night rate is comparable to what I was paying pre April this year.
Don't know if this tariff is available on DD but can't see why not.
Hopefully this will save some people some money.

Yes, 7p night isn't unusual for EdF E7 right now - although offset by the much higher day rate. It depends on region which payment methods it is offered on though.
It just goes with the general scheme of capped E7 tariffs - although the boundaries vary as the tariffs change and are not exact because I'm just giving a vague guide.
<50% night - single rate might be cheaper
50-65% night - rates like Octopus/E.ON (similar day/night) are best
>65% night - rates like EdF (very different day/night) are best
Someone actually made a graph showing these cross-overs on this forum recently.0 -
I only came across this by chance. Just wanted to let others know that if using economy 7 to heat house that there are some reasonable tariffs out there!1

EDF have the cheapest night right at the moment. It has been well discussed on here over the last few weeks. However, the day rate is higher. So, it may not be for everyone.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
