Costa Brava - Advice and Opinions Wanted (one step holidays)

Hello all,

I am planning to book a holiday to Cast Brava now as it is cheap (299 for 7 nights) and was hoping for some opinions - how easy is it to get to barcelona, cost of things, things to do, is it any good? Etc.

Also, has anyone staying at Raymar (sp) hotel at Lloret Del Mar. Anyone stayed there?

Finally - anyone used one step holidays? www.onestepholidays.co.uk.

All help appreciated - hopefully this will be it sorted! :)

Thanks

The Costa Brava is beautiful. I'm a frequent visitor, and I was there last month. I prefer to stay further up around Palafrugel and Agua Brava. Not sure what you like, but there are some great walks and lovely bays and beaches. Food's a bit dearer on the coast than inland, but not expensive. Shouldn't be difficult to get to Barca and well worth a visit.

    Hi
I stayed at Blanes last year, not far from Lloret Del Mar. The train is an easy way to get to Barcelona, not sure if it stops at Lloret as that's further from Barcelona than Blanes but would think it does. The journey is along the coastline so nice views and takes you right to the centre of Barcelona. As I recall it was very reasonably priced.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

we stayed a lloret de mar last year and it was great the nly problem was that there was a hospital nearby and the ambulances rasn every night all night but apart from that no problems at all. Depending on what you want the nightlife seemed lively the beech was ok the shops were varied the whole place seems cheap enough we had a great time and would go back to the area

Couple of reviews on Holidays Uncovered (good review site for many places) - both rated Stella as Excellent. Start at http://www.majorca-uncovered.co.uk/majorca.htm then select "Costa Brava Misc" (and the "Go" button) then Edit/Find "Stella" (first hit will be about the well known "expensive" beverage).

Thanks - have booked it! £558 total. Didn't go for transfers as it was £30 pp extra! She said taxi would be cheaper... which was nice of her as I figured she would try to sell it to us for comission!

Booked it on Debit card though and am a bit worried. It save £15 but not sure that was such a good idea :(. Still - done now. Does Trave Insurance cover a company going bust?

Thats the next step - travel insurance... off to other parts of MSE :D

    Thanks all.

As for a day out at Barcelona, i personally would advise to book a trip with a coach company.
We have done both, with a coach company, your taken to other parts of Barcelona, the church, the football stadium, the olympic stadium and the rambles. You have no hassle messing around.

Another time we took the kids in a hire car, nightmare, there are toll booths all along the motorway, driving round Barcelona is a nightmare especially when you don''t know where your going and some one is map reading. We got to the footie stadium to late to go in. parking is a nightmare.

Just my views i thought that the organised coach trip was a bit better as we had less hassle and we got to see most of barcelona in a day.

Thanks for the info. Will keep it in mind when planning the rest of holiday. Also planning to go to Universal Studios while there...

Booked for end of August. Really amazed by the price :)
