British Gas Energy Rebate
By chance I checked my account this morning. I was happy to see £64 had been credited to my electricity bill. I am in a healthy position with this at the moment as I chose to pay more than required, so in the eventuality it went up I wouldn't be hit with a big bill. So you can imagine I was annoyed to see that they had given me this, then took it straight back, I assume to reduce my bill. I cannot take back any credit I might have as it is already in their bank, this now means I have to check at the end of the period (6 months) to make certain that it has been deducted from my usage. Talk about confusing the issue.

I'm slightly confused by your post - what are you saying has happened to your account?
It is common for the government's £66 to be credited to your account and then to be debited again when they start the process to transfer it to your bank account - is this what has happened here?1 -
Do you pay British Gas by direct debit?
If so, then you will receive the money as a payment to your bank account to do with as you wish and if you wish to put it towards paying your energy bill then thats your choice, although you dont have to.
Over a period of 6 months (either October to March or November to April if your DD is later in the month) you will receive £400 into your bank. British Gas will pay the money to your account a few days after your direct debit date but even if it may arrive later than they say, you will get the £400

SparkyGrad, Yes they gave me the 1 months rebate and immediately claimed it back, today I notice my account has been credited the amount, a delay of 5 or 6 days, but all well now. Antt555 yes I pay by direct debit and it was my understanding it would be credited to my account, it has been now. It just seems a strange way to go about it, they credited my BG account with £64 then took it straight back within minutes and then 5 days later it is in my bank account.0

I can see why you thought it was strange, but glad it's appeared somewhere for you.0
