  • Would those with sophisticated Excel files be willing to share blank templates of their files to give others a headstart? I have the task of building an Excel file ahead of me and honestly don't know where to start....

Have you looked at the templates in Excel?

In Excel, click on File and you should see a selection of templates.

    Thanks for everybody's answers.
I decided to go with an Excel-type spreadsheet (I'm using Open office that's basically the same thing but for free). I looked at some of the software suggested, but none seemed to do what I wanted it to do (or was too complicated/impractical). Spreadsheet seems to work just fine (for now, anyway).
