Cheapest ways to get to Luton, Gatwick, Stansted from London

Are there any good lifehacks on how to get to airports around London for less? Easybus and National Express charge £15, rarely less.

    It's a big place, London.
I suspect the answer might vary depending on whereabouts in London you're leaving from...

East Midlands Railway has some pretty cheap advance fares on their new(ish) electric train service between St Pancras and Luton Airport Parkway, undercutting Thameslink.

Cheapest tickets are £5 (and that's before any Railcard discounts).

For Gatwick, depending where you're starting from, it is sometimes possible to get a better fare by splitting your journey at East Croydon.

National Express if you book far enough in advance for £3.30 each way from Victoria to Gatwick, at least for the random dates/times I chose.

Yeah National Express fares can be very cheap if you book well in advance - but there will be fees for changing them if your travel arrangements change

Initially found it years ago when researching Heathrow hotels, loads of info on what pubs/restaurants are near the various places to stay and how to get to the terminals better and cheaper than the Hoppa buses (RIP the TfL buses being free along the Bath Rd!)

No, it's still not less than £17
  • It will depend on where abouts in London you are located. I recently flew back from Italy to Gatwick and I managed to get a train ticket to Greenwich for around £20
