https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/21-cars-clamped-forest-park-7728073

I am not sure of the status of this bit of land, anyone give their thoughts?

Can't open the link as local newspaper sites are full of links to ads so the actual news doesn't appear!

Unless its DVLA/Council clamping untaxed vehicles its potentially an offence.

Tram stop/ station, so by laws in play?
But as said, if not council or DVLA then wouldn't a SIA licence be required?

If its the tram operator and Council controls the land the clamping and removal of vehicles causing an obstruction is permitted.

It is covered by Byelaws, and clamping/removal is permitted.

    Para 16 applies.

Yes I saw that and looked up those byelaws last week and concluded they can do this.  It will get them terrible publicity and will drive people away from bothering with these park & ride sites but hey, people who make these decisions never see that.

Then later they wonder like idiots, why footfall has plummeted.

It did seem extremely vague on penalty amount, though, and the clamp release fee seemed to be unquantified which will encourage the worst of the worst to pitch for this little earner.

Wasnt there some issues over railway by laws clamping/towing a few years back that cost the company/organisation carrying out the clamping/towing a significant amount ?

Odds on that whatever happens here will embolden others to try elsewhere, i think this is the first time clamping with by laws has been reported

A few years back i was talking to a PPC bod (could have been CP plus) who was convinced that they could clamp on motorway service area sites, and clamp vehicles with out standing debts as motorway service areas were covered by government legislation

Half-way, I think it was NCP who towed and impounded a motorist's car and ended up paying tens of thousands of pounds. I can't remember whether it was because they had no right to tow/impound or whether there was no parking infringement.
