CORC Insurance Backed Guarantee

My roof has just been replaced. Before work started, I asked about their guarantee. They asked if I wanted an insurance backed one and I said yes. They said it would be a CORC one.
I've made the first payment for the new roof and the 2nd one is due next week. I asked about the IBG today and was told I'd get it once payment was made, understandably.
Here's the bit I don't understand. He said they would contact CORC (after I make the 2nd payment) to tell them to contact me. CORC would then 'ask for invoices and may ask to come and inspect the work which could take 6  - 8 weeks'.
I thought it was just a matter of the roofer buying the certificate from CORC once he'd received payment.
Does it really take 6 - 8 weeks?

No idea, sorry. Have you tried asking CORC in the first instance?

Have a read of https://www.corc.co.uk/ibgs-for-customers/.  Note the requirement for your contractors guarantee as well as the CORC one.

I got the IBG certificate after I paid the final payment. So it's all good now. Great company....I'd actually called another one initially, who said they were busy but gave me the name of this one. Water tight roof, happy home owner.
