  • I think we need some more info 😁. Are you looking to buy? I remember a road by us being closed (about 2 miles away) and all warehouse lorries were diverted past our house. The house rattled all night long.
will the traffic come past the house?

You might need to go back very late at night. The good news is that going a weekend night will probably be little different to a weekday night.
My concern is not the traffic as this can fade into the background over time but the other site noises (shouting, sirens, reversing noises etc) that may be more distracting.
I grew up over the road from a supermarket and off a busy main road into town but the traffic noise wasn't an issue.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

They will have fixed dispatch times where "stuff" has to be out of the door by so that it gets to the destination on time. Then there will be incoming deliveries throughout the course of the day & night. Depending on the day of week, this could be minimal, or vehicles queuing up down the road. Add to this, seasonal variations, and just picking one night at random may not give a true picture.
I'd suggest pitching camp on a Monday at 08:00 and staying until Tuesday morning - This should give you a snapshot of traffic & noise levels at peak time.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Amazon warehouses and distribution centres certainly work 24 hours, based on the time of night I get dispatch notifications! I would definitely visit late and night and hang around for a while to assess. 200m is a reasonable distance though, so hopefully OK. Would all the vehicles drive past the house, or is it tucked away?

I viewed a house next to a factory with a whole housing estate next door. I went there in the day and in the night and was quite unsure about how loud the sound was. I actually called the company and spoke to the person on the phone and explained that I was looking to buy and what the sound was like throughout the evenings, he quickly explained to me that the factory ran 24/7 and they had noise complaints from the neighbouring properties. The factory was there before the houses so I mean you shouldn't buy a house and expected to be quiet.

Anyway, that conversation and my doubts were enough to stop me buying it. Personally, I wouldn't touch a place next to a factory. Remember sound travels much further as much more noticeable in the dead of night.
  • Might be worth knocking on a few of the neighbours doors to see what they say .
Also remember that units can change use so might be fine at the moment but totally different next year!
Unless this place is significantly better than others at same price I think I would avoid, but it might be worth it if it's the only way to afford an extra bedroom that you need.

It was a hard one because the factory didn't really do actual manufacturing in the evenings but they do have lorries coming and going and they had forklifts moving goods, probably similar to what you will have at a warehouse.

Don't underestimate how loud trucks are coming and going.
