Yes, I thought that. Although someone said to me there is normally more wind in winter which helps. But I read somewhere that the average KWH price people were paying on Tracker last winter was over 30p, well our fixed rate is only 22.6p, so I'm not sure if there is incentive to move really. But the thing that worries me most, is getting a meter installed and then it doesn't work properly and they bill you stupid estimated bills. Seems to be a lot of people this has happened to. I'm not sure about it all yet, still on the fence I thinkSarahwithlove said:It's the cost in winter months that scare me as it's generally known to be cheaper during summer due to more daylight hours.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Afternoon all. Hope you all had a good bank holiday. We didn't do much, bit of gardening, bit of cleaning, few surveys and couple of walks and some online exercise classes. DH had work Saturday morning and Monday morning. So not very exciting really.
So the week has got off to a good start with an odd £20 OP to the mortgage, as I wanted to round it down a nice £14,400
Got a load more blackberries at the weekend and made a crumble, so could bake it at the same time as I did dinner and not have the oven on extra. We had a smaller dinner as we were having crumble later. Think portion control is my biggest downfall....lol.
Washing has all dried outside in the fresh air and I've only done 30c washes. Wondering what the difference would be if I did a 20c one. Might give it a try
Still not done my meal plan yet, but I do have a list of what's in freezer and cupboards, so will do that in a bit. Can't seem to get my head round it at the moment as I feel a bit "bleugh" and can't decide why. Not ill, or overly tired or anything, just feel fed up. Need to get myself into gear and get on with things.
The month isn't ending up too shabby survey/study wise, so that's a bonus. Hoping next month is good as well.,
Well that's about it for this boring update. Have a good afternoon everybody.Making the debt go down and savings go up

I've had a meter for over 5 years and never had a problem with it that I know of anyway!Makingabobor2 said:

I’ve felt the same just lately. Can’t seem to find my mojo. Maybe a new month will see us find a surge of enthusiasm. We’ve had a smart meter ever since they became a thing and never had any problems whatsoever. I guess it’s like a lot of things, you only hear the bad stories.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

My smart meter installation went OK & the IHD seems to be working OK too. Pity the meter changer screwed up the connection to my solar panels which is why I needed it. I have also found out why people keep referring to the IHD as the smart meter & annoying people on that bit of this site. The BG paperwork for the IHD has absolutely no mention of IHD & calls it a smart energy monitor. It has great information like use the buttons to navigate but doesn't tell you what you can navigate to. I wonder if these people make things difficult deliberately so you stay in ignorance.

Evening @Makingabobor2 - thought I'd pop onto your diary to continue the IoW holiday chat. Yes we are sailing from Portsmouth too. We love our trips to the island and the ferry crossing is part of the fun. We are self catering so we stock up at Lidlees when we arrive. Reading this makes me realise what a rock n roll life I have 😎. Are you regular visitors to IoW?
also need to own up to reading your user name as "making a bo bor 2" and wondering what a bo bor was 🤦♀️3 -
Ooh I will subscribe to your diary to read all about your trip @Blackcats.
When do you go?
I spent all my childhood holidays there as my grandparents lived there. My mum was born there. We hadn't been for years, and DH didn't really know it that well at all. He'd only been twice. But then after my mum passed I said I wanted to go back, sort of like a pilgrimage. But it was covid time, so we never went till last year. Fell in love with it all over again and said we'd be back this year. Especially as I broke my wrist last year over there & it spoiled the last day...I am under strict instructions not to do that again....lol
We are self catering as well. Take loads of stuff with us & get fresh stuff when we get there.

@badmemory, I'm sure they do. They need to write instructions for everyone to understand, but they only seem to write for the professionals. I have one of those sun light/alarms/bird song/radios. I am reasonably intelligent but trying to program it was soooo difficult even with an instruction book.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Ohhhh your both coming down into my neck of the woods. I was watching the ferries go across yesterday from the Spinaker Tower hehe. If you haven't been up it you should try make time for the views. Also the aircraft carriers are in harbour until the autumn. I too went to the island alot as a child but for the day but not so much as an adult. I want to go from Southampton and see that side of the island. One of those places I forget is there despite looking at it everytime I go for a walk down beach lol 😆Makingabobor2 said:Ooh I will subscribe to your diary to read all about your trip @Blackcats.
