how lovely to receive that cheque and very sensible use of it too.  we are all getting very grown up and sensible now aren't we???  back in the day I would have spent that as soon as the cheque had cleared in my account, or sooner if there was a way to do so.

@Blackcats. 10 or 12 years ago we would have booked a holiday with it. Holidays were our biggest downfall. I remember 1 year, about 17 years ago where we went to New York, Austria & Florida, all in the same year...I am hanging my head in shame.

@~FlowerPot~, and welcome.  Thanks for the good wishes on my wrist. Just when I think its improving, it seems to take a step backwards. Still getting a lot more pain than I thought I would at this stage. Certain movements are a definite No No still...lol. I keep getting told its a long process to heal properly so just keep plodding on.  Typing on laptop and scrolling phone don't help, so that's most of my life...lol  I'm sure it will improve more soon though.
Hope your sore wrist doesn't last too long.  Try massage, and make sure to massage from fingers towards wrist. That's what I was told by both the Dr & the physio. It does help. Also soaking it in warm water first.

I once funded a 3 week trip to Australia entirely with my credit card including using it to withdraw cash.  I sort of knew it was daft/irresponsible but carried on regardless.
  • We were all living on another planet then, weren't we @Blackcats? I used to say, " Don't worry, I'll get a better job to pay it off". Never happened though

  • Afternoon all
Another windy day here. Had an early start and went down to the butcher just after they opened at 8am, to collect the meat order, it was bedlam with people queuing to the door and 4 people serving and tripping over each other...lol.  Then a quick pop into local C00p to get something I had forgotten and that's us done. Although we did say if we get out for a walk tomorrow, we may pop in the C00p again just before they close as I suspect there may be a lot of orange sticker items. Although at the moment, I can't get any more in the freezer, but maybe DD can.

Rest of the day has been quite laid back, icing some little cakes I made yesterday, braising the red cabbage in the slow cooker (first time I have tried this recipe and TBH, it smells a bit weird so far & just realised I forgot to add the butter....oops)  I'll let you know what its like.
Got 3 more things for GKS to wrap as was waiting on a last minute order that arrived this morning, then we will walk down and drop the presents off for them tomorrow. They are coming for lunch on Boxing day.

Not many money saving things today that I can think of, other than the fact that I used Nancy Birtwhistle's recipe for making dark brown sugar instead of buying it. I hardly ever use it and only wanted 150g, so mixed granulated with dark treacle and was very surprised when it worked. Also as she says, brown sugar comes in plastic which I hate buying unless I have to. As i haven't been able to get to my refill shop for a few weeks when I couldn't drive. Hopefully I will start using that again in new year. The nearest shop is 11 miles away, but there is a lady stands on local market once a week about 4 miles away, who I use sometimes if I can get to her.

Can't work out what day it is today, its like having 2 Christmas Eve's in a row....lol

Time for tea I think, jacket potatoes today with whatever I can find to throw on them.  We had bacon baps for breakfast today, can't remember the last time we had bacon, so TBH I  feel like eating nothing today, in readiness for the next few days....lol.
Hoping there's some good Christmas TV later, or we may end up watching Elf or something,.

    Have a good evening all.

I've been getting mixed up with what day it is too.  Not whether it was Christmas Eve etc but wheher we were at Thursday or Friday or Saturday,  it's a relief to know today is Sunday AND Christmas Eve ....I think 🤷‍♀️
