Try on Greying_Pilgrim's thread I am sure she uses one for drying washing.

I have one but it is used in the bathroom to avoid mould as a result of 30 minute showers which have been known to cause 99% humidity. This will be no help to you as it was an impulse buy from aldi's centre aisle. When I need a replacement, it is 7 or 8 yrs old now I know what I will be looking for. Mostly something that turns off after either a period of time or when the humidity goes down to an accepable level. I think you also need to check how you remove the water from it. I've never tried to use it to dry washing.

Here at Foxgloves Manor, we use a heated airer & a dehumidifier. Always amazes me how much water it collects, which now that we are on compulsory water-metering, is used to flush the loo!

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • I got my dehumidifier about 2 years ago and now dry all my washing in one room on an airier. It’s great not having washing drying on every radiator in the house!! Even after all this time I’m still amazed how much water is in it every time I empty it . I got one with a laundry booster button and it helps to dry the washing much quicker. I haven’t had any damp or mould since I started using it so would definitely recommend one xx

I have a Meaco Areate, had it about 2-3 years now and couldn’t be without it. A load of washing is dry in about 6-8 hours and I also use it to keep my house warm as I don’t have double glazing and it def takes the chill out of the air

Yes, I thought about using the water for other purposes. On the odd occasion when I have to use the TD, I always use that water for the loo.

What make do you have @foxgloves ?

Aha, my sister has one of those as well. She also seems to like it. Maybe that's the one I should look at.

We took have a Meaco, ours is a desiccant dehumidifier, the model we have has laundry boost, a timer and we can set what level we want it to reduce the humidity to.
