Do off-peak tariffs actually work out cheaper?

It’s the octopus go tariff. I can’t really compare to my current usage as at the minute I’m washing, using dishwasher, etc during the day as I have solar panels without battery storage but if it was cheaper to be on the octopus go tariff then I’d time things for night time. But I am at home with the kids a few days per week so we do use lights, tv, cooker, etc during those days. I have a smart meter but no in house monitor as I wasn’t given one and when I’m still waiting after requesting one0

( The 'Intelligent' tariff is 10p but different hours)Also you would need to have an EV to go onto that tariff, and without that sort of high load device, the odds are this isn't going to be a cheaper option for you...What do you use for heating?

dont forget then that you would still have your solar panels so wouldn't need to switch everything to the night rate to break even. though i guess your 'free' energy during the day would be less in winter anyway.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0 -

(if not sure about the frequency, even your annual mileage would be a decent guide...)0

yeah. if you have an electric smart meter then the bright app is really good at showing what you are using every half hour. there's a delay so its better to look at it a day behind. but i dont know how the bright app would work with solar panels?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. I'm on a previous version of Go Faster at 5p/24p. I currently use 75-80% off-peak and average under 10p per kWh. The winter will be harder with less solar generation, but I'm saving hundreds.0
