Night and day rates wrong way round

Please help! I think I've been submitting my day and night readings the wrong way round..I really thought I'd checked this and after seeing a YouTube video, 4 = night time rate,1= day time rate - that's really obvious isn't it????
I was planning to call British Gas and if the shortfall on my part is huge, do you think they will offer me a payment plan to repay.
Any thoughts or advice welcome...0 -
It's not necessarily that obvious - the only way of knowing which way round your day/night rates are is to see which one is active on the meter at a known time - so for example, if you check right now, you *should* be on day rate - so which rate is your meter showing as active?
There is a common assumption that day and night rates are always a "set" way round - but having lived for years with a meter where R1 was night, and R2 was day, I can assure you it doesn't always work that way! (And does frequently lead to transposed readings issues, too!)
If E7 is working well for you, then the good news is that there shouldn't be a shortfall - because you will have been declaring the higher (night) figure against the more expensive (day) rate!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
