Just put a fairly large meaty chicken thigh in the Remoska that I dug out of the freezer last night I also got what I thought was bacon rashers from the freezer, it was bacon ,but not in rasher form its was cooking bacon ,but manage to wrap the chicken in strips of it and wrapped it in foil so its cooking now.
I'm also using up the last jacket spud as well and have some last bits of roquefort cheese to pop in the middle of it to use it up. Bit of an odds and ends dinner but using stuff up as much as possible.I shall shred the sweetheart cabbage tommorow and freeze it in ziplock bags.
I'm aiming to use or freeze everything I can as I'm away for most of next week so don't want to waste a scrap if I can help it.

Hi, @London_1, best sort of meal isn't it. Always feels like a free meal when i use up leftovers.
Big drumroll please, we have running water back. The luxury of being able to flush the toilet, without needing to use a bucket of rainwater, is bliss. However, as we had done some plumbing while the water was off, and couldn't test it because there was no water, we had a leek when it went back on! I had to turn the water back off, we lifted the floor boards on the landing, and between OH and I fixed it. The water is now back on.
Tea! All three children said they don't like omelette. Almost every morning as part of their breakfasts, they have omelette, because it's their favourite! Children!! They had been eating all afternoon at the party so maybe not too hungry.
DD3 and DS1 both on their way down. Should be here in a couple more hours.
Hugs, mumtoomany.xxx

@mumtoomany, indeed its feels like a little bonus when you use up the odds and ends doesn't it
. So only another week and this year will become a memory and we start with a nice shiny new one. Hopefully it will be a good one for us all.
I wish you and your full house a wonderful Christmas, as family is the most importaant thing in the world to me.
I am so lucky to have two smashing daughters and my seven grandchildren.I shall see all but one of my grandchildren ,but the eldest one (Danny) lives in New York with his lovely wife Hayley and they too will become parents for the first time this coming summer. So another little girl to add to the family tree. He will Facetime us though on Christmas Day so we can wish him well.
They have some really bad weather due this weekend so they will batten down and stay in the warm. Luckily their heating is inclusive of their rent in their apartment so they won't be cold. Their air conditioning is inclusive in the summer as well, it seems to be normal where their apartment complex is. Hopefully their cold weather snap won't cross the atlantic.
Right time to get the kettle on for some more tea I swear my body runs on tea or coffee during the winter
Have a good Christmas and a Happy and Healthy new year to you all, glad you have your water back on

Hello lovely lady @mumtoomany I am so pleased you have water now.
I hope you all had a good day yesterday, and send you lots of well wishes. We have snow here today so defrosting animal drinkers is the first job!
Take care all xx0 -
And I'm back. Lost my tablet for a few days, turned up down the side of the sofa, but then the battery was dead. Add to that the children being off school and commandeering the computer.
Thank you @London_1 and @asparklyblonde, for your good wishes. I hope you both, your families and everyone else reading had a great Christmas.
Been shopping twice in the run up to Christmas. Firstly to Farmfoods with DD3, used her voucher and staff discount, bought lots of chicken, fish fingers, steak and kidney puddings, and lots of other bits. Also called into the cash and carry for cornflour, none of the supermarkets seem to stock it now. Then Christmas eve went hunting bargains. Reduced chickens, less than £1 each, lots of veg and some wine, from Aldi. Reduced stewing steak, mince, pizzas, bread, other reduced bits, in Lidl. Reduced pigs in blankets, salmon, sandwiches, from Morrisons. Reduced cream, steak and turkey crown in Iceland. Eggs from Tesco. Total spend over all these in the two days, £220.90!
This means my "over spend" for the year is now £378.76. My spends for the year are now £3018.76. Barely more than £1 per head per day. I still have food in all the cupboards and pantry. And all three freezers have even more meat and fish than before. Lots of fresh veg and some I've frozen. No more shopping for the rest of the year, except maybe milk, (that may become my epitaph).
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx.Frugal Living Challenge 2025.9 -

Our Coop has cornflour but it's with things like Oxo and gravy granules not in the baking section.3
