Amazon Influencer Storefront - Tax Rules UK

Hi everyone!

I have a large social media following and I read about the Amazon Influencer program which allows you to create a storefront to recommend products. If people buy products through this storefront then you earn a commission.

I was just wondering how this would work in the UK with regards to tax; I earn within the basic rate of tax through my full time job (between £12,571 and £50,270).

Would I be required to fill out a self assessment tax form, or would I be okay as long as the commission I earn in a year doesn't exceed a certain amount?

Thank you!

Generally speaking, the first £1000 you earn each year while self employed will come under your trading allowance. You won't need to declare it or pay tax on it. If you're not sure whether it would count, you can fill in a quiz on GOV.UK to check: https://www.gov.uk/check-additional-income-tax
