Which supplier would you recommend?

I am currently with Ecotricity for electricity, and they are not price capped so they are expensive. So I think the time has come for me to switch. Who would people recommend? I'd like a supplier with good customer service, in particular one that is good about getting refunds (my usage is low on a small flat so I'm actually spending less than the £66/month current government help), and one that is good on getting smart meters installed (maybe - not sure about this, as a low user im not sure id benefit from off peak deals much), helping with insulation, keeping costs down where possible eg on service charges - and most importantly, one with a functional app and intelligible bills - which rules out my current gas supplier, British Gas, who are hopeless on both (i have to say, Ecotricity are good at both). Is there likely to be any benefit of getting dual fuel again post-April, do people think? And lastly, are there any switching bonuses / cashback / etc offers at present? Essentially, are any of the firms vaguely honourable, decent, and worth switching to to save maybe 10-15/month (but possibly more in future)?

I've not been with my current supplier (Octopus) for long enough to recommend - although so far, I've been impressed.
I can however recommend that you avoid both Utility Warehouse & EDF - I've had very negative experiences with both.
In terms of referral bonuses - Octopus still do these.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

we are with ovo and we like them but the main benifit is the loyalty bonus they pay (3% on credit balances in your first year to 5% after three years) and if you don't want to hold a lot of credit on your account then there's no real benifit.
octopus i think do a small discount on the standing charge (5p a day?) and if you want a time of use tariff then i think they are the ones most recommended.
i don't know if anyone is particuarlly good at installing smart meters right now. i think there's a general backlog and maybe a shortage still of the meters.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Another vote for Octopus...its well run ..you can get hold of them quickly by phone and email . Website is very clear .any readings you submit come back following day with an accurate bill . once a month free spin on their little amusing game to win a bit of cash which some on here have actually won something . £50 referral fee is still active at moment too.
There is a queue to join them though at the moment via email (or phone as well possibly )as a friend of mine who s keen to join them has been told she s on the waiting list .looks like you cannot switch via the website1 -
I am a great fan of Octopus but there are rumours that they are about to takeover Bulb’s customer base. In recent months, customer service has, imho, been less ‘outrageously good’ than Octopus claims. Responses to emails are now taking days rather than hours as was the case before Octopus became the SoLR for Avro1

A good way to contact Octopus is Twitter.
Fitting smart meters seems to depend on regional availability. E.g. for my area a couple of months ago there were loads of appointments, but others also with Octopus at that time said there were none.1 -

I would avoid OVO at this time - they seem to have fluffed up the integration of SSE customers, and the customer service is dire at the moment...once you actually get hold of someone...

Another vote for Octopus. I moved to them in April, got replacement smart meters fitted in June. They tend to answer phone within a few minutes and keep you updated with emails.
Now on time of use tariffs which are saving me £sBarnsley, South Yorkshire
