Vibrating from showers/taps

We’ve had a plumber round to assess vibrating noises we are intermittently experiencing when we turn on the shower/taps in our property but he seems to be a bit perplexed as to the cause. We have no water tank, no pumps on the showers etc, just a combo boiler. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing this before I do the rounds of trying to find (and pay for) yet another plumber to come out. Thanks

Is it just the hot taps, or cold as well?  If you've only got mixers, then do you get the noise when the toilet is refilling?

A faulty/worn non-return valve is one of the things which could introduce vibration.  Did the plumber look for those?

A worn rubber washer in a traditional tap can cause vibration.
  • All taps are mixers, except the kitchen tap. It does vibrate on cold and hot in the kitchen. I’ve noticed the kitchen tap does drip when the other showers/taps are used in the house. No noise when the toilets are refilling.
  • Sorry kitchen tap is a mixer tap and it does vibrate on hot, cold and mixed setting

Are you sure you don't have a booster pump?  Either within the property, or for the whole block if flats/apartments etc.

What about a water softener or similar?

    All taps are mixers,
What do you call a 'mixer'?  My mixers have two independent handles/taps, although ceramic, not 'traditional', with a rubber washer.
  • Our property is a detached house. I can’t see a boaster or water softener either near the main cold water outlet in the kitchen or near the combo boiler, so assume there isn’t one.

  • @grumbler when I say mixer what I mean is one tap where the lever can be rotated left or right dependent how hot you want the water. The tap in the kitchen is also one tap but with separate hot and cold controls which can be on together or separately. I hope that makes sense.

Is the stopc0ck fully opened? When you hear the vibration, try turning it to see if this has any effect.
  • Ok I’ll give that a try. If it’s stops making the noise do you have a suspicion about what it might be? M
