Parking Ticket for entering one wrong digit

Wondering if you can help please. I got a parking ticket because instead of entering 63 I entered 67 - it occurred to me why I did when I got home - the lady in front of me at the machine bleated out to her partner "what number is it" - well you can guess the response - "seven"
So therefore as that number stuck in my head that's what I entered!
Can I appeal it?

Which parking firm please? This will determine how you might deal with this minor keying error. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

That's good.
Appeal AS REGISTERED KEEPER (not saying who was driving) and say you've looked this issue up on the BPA's website and see that a single digit VRM error means the PCN should never have bern issued and must be cancelled.
Tell them what the error was WITHOUT saying 'I did this'. Talk about 'the driver's single digit keying error' and attach the P&D ticket if you have it.
Don't say 'I, me or 'my ticket'. You are appealing as the registered keeper, for a reason that you already know from the NEWBIES thread!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've just written this up. Okay to email, and if so can I take a photo of the P&D ticket and attach along with it ?
To whom it may concern,I hereby wish to appeal PCN reference ‘-----------'.
I have looked this issue up on the BPA's website and upon doing so it clearly states that a single digit VRM error means that the PCN should never have been issued and must be cancelled.
The driver's single digit keying error was that the number 67 was entered instead of 63.
On the BPA Approved Operator Scheme Code of Practice it states:
17.4 The Code recognises that keying errors can be grouped into 2 main areas;
A) Minor Keying Errors
Examples of a minor keying error could include:• 0 instead of o.
• I instead of L.
• 1 instead of I
• Up to one letter wrong, removed, or swapped
• Up to one number wrong, removed, or swapped
• Numbers and/or letters in the wrong order (but where the correct registration is still recognisable)
These are minor errors where up to one character has been entered incorrectly, or where the registration has been entered in the wrong order. If a typing error such as this leads to a PCN being issued and the motorist appeals, the PCN must be cancelled at the first stage of appeal.
Please find the Pay and Display Ticket attached.

I doubt you can email it but only you know, because the PCN you have there tells you the appeal routes. Don't try something else.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am wondering whether to post instead though as that way I could send it signed for so there's proof that the appeal has been sent. What do you think?
Also, is what I wrote above sufficient for the appeal?
Thank you for your help.0 -
I am wondering whether to post instead though as that way I could send it signed for so there's proof that the appeal has been sent. What do you think? And if they refuse to sign for it (PPCs don't like doing that unless there's a cheque enclosed) what do you think you have then?
Email (bcc to another of your email addresses, or a friend's email address) will be proof of delivery, and not just proof of sending! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum.
